Porsche ceremonially hands over anniversary Cayenne to municipal fire brigade

Stuttgart/Leipzig. The 500,000th vehicle rolled off the production line in Porsche’s plant in Saxony. The anniversary sports car is a white Cayenne with a V8 engine and was converted into a command vehicle for the Leipzig fire brigade with the assistance of Porsche’s apprentices. In a ceremony today, Matthias Müller, the President and CEO of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, handed over the car keys to the Lord Mayor of the City as a token of the affiliation with Porsche’s Leipzig home. Because everything started with a Cayenne in 2002. Read more

Porsche 911 declared “2012 World Performance Car”

Sports car classic honoured

Stuttgart. The Porsche 911 has been honoured as the “2012 World Performance Car” at the New York International Auto Show. The 911 won the award against strong competition. The choice was between 19 vehicles in all. A high-powered jury made up of 64 automotive journalists from 25 countries gave first place to the 911. The seventh generation of the sports car classic from Zuffenhausen celebrated its world premiere back in September 2011 at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt.

Porsche AG said of the success of the Porsche 911: “The new 911 received its first award only a short time after it was launched in December 2011. Since then there have been many more. Delivery record for Porsche in 2011

22 per cent rise in worldwide customer deliveries

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart set a new delivery record in 2011: 118,867 vehicles were sold worldwide; a 22.2 per cent increase compared with the year before. The Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer thereby significantly exceeded the planned target of 100,000 customer deliveries in 2011. “With sports car sales of just less than 120,000, 2011 was a record year for Porsche,” said Matthias Müller, President and Chief Executive Officer of Porsche AG. “We are planning to continue growing in 2012 as well. The new 911 generation will galvanize the market.” In December 2011, Porsche delivered 9,157 vehicles to customers. Demand was especially strong in Europe with an increase of 19.8 per cent compared with the same month the year before. Read more
