Name for new Porsche SUV is Macan

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart’s new sports car in the SUV segment has been given the name Macan. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics – core characteristics of the new off-road car.

“The Macan combines all sports car characteristics with the benefits of a SUV and is a genuine Porsche”, said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG. “The name of a new Porsche has to fit with the brand, sound good in very many languages and dialects and evoke positive associations.” Read more

Porsche Cayenne wins “OFF ROAD AWARD 2012”

Most popular luxury SUV comes from Leipzig

Stuttgart. The readers of “OFF ROAD” trade magazine voted the Porsche Cayenne the “Off-road vehicle of the year” in the “Luxury SUV” category. The choice was between models from eleven manufacturers in this category alone. Porsche’s sporty SUV attracted more than 20 per cent of the votes, putting itself in the lead by a clear margin. Porsche sells five per cent more sports cars in January

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has got 2012 underway with an increase in deliveries: January saw the Zuffenhausen-based company deliver 9,613 vehicles of the 911, Boxster/Cayman, Cayenne and Panamera model lines to its customers worldwide, up 4.8 per cent compared with the same month the year before.

Bernhard Maier, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG said: “The good start in January shows that we have evidently set the correct course with our product offensive. This result picks up where last year’s good results left off.” Read more

Porsche launches new junior programme in motorsport from 2012

With an international youth development programme, Porsche continues to expand its racing involvement. From the 2012 season on, initially two young drivers will receive support as Porsche Juniors for their Carrera Cup Deutschland campaign. Porsche provides them with a large portion of the season’s budget. The young pilots will choose a team themselves. A Junior coach assists them with their training away from the circuits and is available for mentoring at the race tracks. Initially, the programme runs over four years. Read more
