Lufteknic has the capabilities for full tire care. Mount and balance is possible for all model Porsches. We have imported the best equipment from Germany to make sure the street and race cars we service are taken care of properly. Our MS 66 IT is Beissbarth's top of the line, fully automatic tire changer featuring a hydraulic double-roller auxiliary arm for mounting and removal of low-profile and run-flat tires, an extra large clamping table, which can be adjusted hydraulically, and an adjustable column. It has the ability to change multi-piece wheels and delicate modern castings. The wheel balancer has high speed capabilities and allows for very fine balancing, which is often not the case for domestic brand equipment in service. Track wheel and tire mount and balance are not a problem with either vintage or current ALMS cars. Please call to schedule an appointment. Some history on Beissbarth: Beissbarth
is an over 100 year old company that makes vehicle workshop equipment.
Brothers Hermann and Daniel Beissbarth, who, on April 14th, 1899, obtained
the first official driving license and what was probably the first recorded
car number plate in the world from the Royal Bavarian Police. Beissbarth
cars were built in Munich's first car factory and brought the Beissbarth
brothers the distinction of being appointed as suppliers to the Bavarian
Court. The brothers traveled throughout Europe and America with their
new car. 1899 also brought the first auto race in The family was still interested in invention and manufacturing their own equipment. By 1953 the first Beissbarth tire balancer and wheel alignment was being produced first for the trucks they serviced, then for cars. The late 50s and early 60s saw exponential automotive growth in Europe. This meant more of a need for auto service centers and the need for new shop equipment. 1960
meant a new factory for Beissbarth. Now
Beissbarth has perhaps some of the most sophisticated wheel and tire equipment
available, always with an emphasis on safety. Audi/VW has been equipping
its servicing network with Beissbarth-developed equipment for years. Daimler-Benz,
Ford, Mazda, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Rover, and many other manufacturers
recommend special versions of the Beissbarth system adapted to their marques.
Tire Purchasing: We
recommend www.tirerack.com
for tire needs. The Tire Rack website has reviews of the tires it sells,
and technical information to help you make an informed decision. We
are dealers for Champion Motorsport, FIKSE and BBS wheels, Our showroom
has a variety of wheels to look at if you are interested in purchasing.
Please check our marketplace for more pictures and specs. If you are building
or maintaining a Porsche track car and need help with custom track wheels
please contact us for guidance through the project. Specifying custom
wheels takes time to assure you have the correct size and offset for your
vehicle. Please be patient if sending an email or have left a phone message.
When
lowering and adding wider wheels comes the possibility of interference
with the "fender lip" that may need more clearance. Pre-1989
911 and 930s often need this when wider wheels and tires or even wheel
spacers are used. Often the front fenders require more clearance than
the rear, but it can be a problem at all four corners. If your car is
in need, our specialized fender lip tool can roll the fender lip nicely
to look factory. Other later 964 and 993s can at times have issues depending
on ride height. These require care since they incorporate plastic wheel
liners. Wheel Repair: We
work closely with a wheel shop that can straighten and refinish wheels
properly. In some parts of the country, people have a hard time locating
or repairing damaged wheels properly. If certain needs or custom applications
are required, please inquire. Turnaround time and cost depends on the
condition of the wheels and your requirements. No firm estimates are given
over the phone or email. Accurate quotes are only given when wheels are
sent to us. Wheel Replacements: Today
the 993, 996, 997 cars are factory equipped with cast wheels, and low
profile tires. This package when driven on poor road conditions can lead
to premamently damaged wheels. When the unfortunate happens, we have sources
to help locate another wheel to match your others. Contact us if the need
arises. We'll see what we can find for you.
993,
986 and 996 owners can sometimes misplace or experience broken wheel lock
keys, often from over-zealous tire shops. When these cars are purchased
"used" they can sometimes have this critical piece missing from
the tool kit. We have the tools to remove the factory wheel locks, and
order the missing key if necessary. If you would like to buy regular wheel
lug bolts/nuts to replace the wheel locks, we have them in stock. |
