Race Preparation: The nature of Porsche means that most owners will find themselves and their car at the racetrack at some point. Some Porsches are dedicated track cars. This type of use requires a different level of maintenance and preparation to make sure that you and your car are safe. Everything happens much faster at the racetrack, and one thing to remember is you are moving, and just about everything else you can make contact with is not. Track events are a dangerous environment, but with the proper car it can be fun and you can have a rewarding time. There are many levels of involvement from weekend Driver's Education, and Autocross events to all out professional events such as the Daytona 24 hrs. We understand the demands of track use on your Porsche and we prepare our customer vehicles accordingly. Professional preparation is vital in order to get the best and most rewarding performance from your Porsche. Track time is valuable.
Safety: First and foremost importance is safety. Proper fire suppression equipment, proper seating, safety harness and installation are an absolute must. It is surprising to us to see how many cars have improper, outdated, or improperly installed safety equipment. In our standards, safety equipment is the first modification to any street car that will see action on track. There are dos and don'ts with installation. Make sure your car has the proper equipment. Suspension: Suspension tuning is a series of compromises, with adjustments having definite positive and negative effects of different aspects of the vehicle's handling performance. We ensure that your car is working how it should on road and track. By making controlled changes to the vehicles geometry we can help you to get the best performance from the chassis for the environment that you and your car will experience. Camber, caster, toe, rake, weight jacking, spring rates, damper valving, sway bars, tire pressures and compounds all affect the vehicle suspension dynamics. There are a lot of variables, and require a tremendous amount of time experimenting to determine what chassis requires for optimum performance. Our race experience has allowed us to garner knowledge in Porsche chassis preparation. With most 911, 964, 993, 996 there are package type upgrades for track prepared street cars. Scaling: Scaling a car is the most critical part of track car set-up. Fine measurements, and protocol are certain; this is necessary to achieve accurate set ups. Electronic scales rest on a level platen under each wheel. These provide accurate readings of each corner weight of the vehicle so technicians can check that it's correctly balanced. To re-adjust the balance of the car, technicians alter the damper platform height of each corner to change the ride height and re-distribute the overall weight of the vehicle to other corners of the car. The smallest changes to dampers in turn can have an effect on the ride height, which also affects the geometry and weight distribution of the car. It is therefore vital that in order for your car to be balanced that all parameters are checked and adjusted together. Brakes:
