Vehicle Inspection: Perhaps one of our most underrated services is the different inspections that we offer to our customers. Porsche is all we do, and we see everything from all models, different modifications, owners, and conditions, as well as the historical differences. On a daily basis we are doing inspections of different types, and the attention to detail is what separates us from the rest. The detail is where it counts when working with precision cars such as Porsche. Pre-Purchase:
A typical street car takes about an hour, includes a test drive, and through inspection of the car from top to bottom. On 356s that owners are concerned with matching numbers we can remove door panels and the like to confirm or deny suspicions. We can also do a leakdown test if requested; price depends on which model you are looking at. Late 3.6L aircooled (964, 993) can take more time than the earlier 911 cars. 996, 986, and 993s have often had their OBD lights (check engine, airbag) disabled, we can tell you why. The mantra here is "A stitch in time can save nine." Internet Auctions: The market for just about every kind of merchandise has changed with the advent of the internet. Buying and selling a Porsche is no exception. The PCA websites, the variety of web forums and of course eBay has opened the market to a worldwide audience. We often work with buyers and sellers of cars in our area, as well as abroad. Pictures and text of an ad are almost always different than what the car is when it shows up to the new owner. We can look at the car for you, and give you a professional opinion. We work with several collectors. When considering a long distance purchase of a rare Porsche we can be consulted and on occasion arrange for an in person inspection of the car. Fees for any of these services depend on the depth and breathe of the investigation. Track Inspections: For our PCA, SCCA, NASA customers, and those participating in club racing, DE (Driver's Education), and other high performance driving events we offer track inspections. A thorough look over of your car, even if you are the individual that maintains it, can often yield some findings that you may not be aware of. Safety is paramount in high speed driving, and making sure that your car is in top condition and has the proper safety equipment is a must. Many times we find cars with improperly installed safety harnesses, roll bars, loose wheels, among many other conditions. Companies also sell parts, and equipment that should not be used in certain situations, yes it may be hard to believe but just because certain parts are available does not mean that they should be used or installed. We will guide you through the inspection and make sure that you and your vehicle are safe for the event. Typically inspections need to be done within 2 weeks of the event you are participating in. Please call to schedule an appointment. Safety Inspections: The State of Virginia requires a once a year safety inspection (the yellow sticker on our windshields). Porsche owners have always been reluctant in taking their cars to the neighborhood garage for this inspection, not wanting cars scratched, and wheels removed with crowbars, or have parts misdiagnosed. We can take care of the inspection, and check to make sure that everything is in working order. This annual look-over will at times find some things that may not be a problem but save you hardship down the road. For newcomers: If your sticker has the date 9/04, that means you have anytime during the month of September 2004 to get the inspection done. Please do not wait until the last day of the month to call for an appointment. |
