Porsche 996

The 996 Carrera is the most significant evolution the 911 design has ever known and considered by some to be the most controversial. The 996 body is completely redone and the interior much more accomodating to all. The 996 is also much more refined at speed. The 3.4L engine is 200cc smaller in displacement compared to the 3.6L 993 but gains close to 20hp. It's liquid cooled 4-valve per cylinder design is very smooth and well designed. Air cooled purist say that the engine is too quiet. Indeed it is much quieter due to the design differences inherent in a liquid cooled engine and Porsche's desire to meet ultra-strict European regulations on drive by noise levels. The new 996 Carrera is the perfect balance of speed, power and comfort.
