Porsche claims podium spot at the Le Mans 24 hour race

Less than four minutes were missing for Porsche to clinch its 99th class win at the Le Mans 24 Hours. With the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR fielded by the IMSA Performance Matmut team, Frenchman Nicolas Armindo, Raymond Narac and Anthony Pons had led the field just a few laps before the flag dropped on the 80th running of the long distance classic in the Sarthe. But in the final minutes, tyre damage robbed the 2011-spec 911 of all hopes for victory. Nevertheless, the joy over second place was huge for the French Porsche customer team. Read more

918 Spyder prototypes commence trials

Stuttgart. The Porsche 918 Spyder is on the road: Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has taken the driving trials of the super sports car of the future a step further with completion of the initial prototypes. The 918 Spyder will go into production at the end of September 2013 as planned, with the first customers receiving their vehicles before 2013 is out. “What we are doing with the 918 Spyder is redefining driving fun, efficiency and performance,” said Wolfgang Hatz, Member of the Executive Board Research and Development of Porsche AG. The Porsche museum is sending its classic cars to the Mille Miglia

The Museum on Wheels is on the road in Italy from 17 to 20 May 2012

Stuttgart.The legends are under starter’s orders: from 17 to 20 May 2012, the Porsche Museum will be covering the legendary thousand miles of the Mille Miglia with its impressive starting field to date. The famous endurance road race will be contested by two Porsche 550 Spyder, 356 Speedster 1500, 356 Speedster 1600, 356 Speedster 1600 S and 356 Coupé with V-shaped front windscreen, the so-called “Knickscheibe” (bent windscreen). The contest follows the course of the most beautiful roads from Brescia to Rome and back and is among the most important events in the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, calendar. The Mille Miglia remains a challenge for vehicles and drivers to this day because the 1,600 kilometre course is covered in only three days and typically traverses different weather zones. Read more
