The Porsche museum is sending its classic cars to the Mille Miglia

The Museum on Wheels is on the road in Italy from 17 to 20 May 2012

Stuttgart.The legends are under starter’s orders: from 17 to 20 May 2012, the Porsche Museum will be covering the legendary thousand miles of the Mille Miglia with its impressive starting field to date. The famous endurance road race will be contested by two Porsche 550 Spyder, 356 Speedster 1500, 356 Speedster 1600, 356 Speedster 1600 S and 356 Coupé with V-shaped front windscreen, the so-called “Knickscheibe” (bent windscreen). The contest follows the course of the most beautiful roads from Brescia to Rome and back and is among the most important events in the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, calendar. The Mille Miglia remains a challenge for vehicles and drivers to this day because the 1,600 kilometre course is covered in only three days and typically traverses different weather zones. Read more

Stuttgart/Leipzig. Production up twofold, employee numbers up threefold, increase in vehicle output by orders of magnitude: since production began in 2002, Porsche Leipzig has developed into one of the most successful automotive factories. To mark the plant’s tenth anniversary, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra will tomorrow be performing a concert for violin and orchestra by Dimitri Shostakovich as well as the Third Symphony by Johannes Brahms conducted by Riccardo Chailly. Special Exhibition in the Porsche Museum from 26 May to 26 August 2012

Stuttgart.For six decades, the history of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has been inseparably associated with the worldwide enthusiasm of the Porsche Club scene. 60 years ago, on 26 May 1952, seven passionate Porsche drivers founded the Porsche Club Hohensyburg in Westphalia. According to its articles of association, the common goal of this first club was to “unite all Porsche drivers in friendship and comradeship”. The creation of this first club was the foundation stone for a long and unique success story that has become a global phenomenon. Read more

Starting Today: New Special Exhibition “911 Identity” in the Porsche Museum

Tradition meets Innovation

Stuttgart. For more than four decades, the Porsche 911 has been deemed an automotive icon and the very epitome of the sports car. That means that the launch of the new Type 991 is an important event for the Porsche Museum Stuttgart as well. As a curtain raiser for 2012, the new generation is being welcomed as part of a major special exhibition from 31 January to 20 May, 2012 under the banner “911 Identity”.

Porsche Engineering – pioneering technology and trailblazing innovations

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has been the leading manufacturer of premium sports cars for more than six decades. However, the historic roots of the Porsche brand go back much further than that. When Ferry Porsche built the legendary Type 356 in 1948, he and his engineers were able to look back on a wealth of comprehensive technological experience. Back on 25th April 1931, Ferdinand Porsche founded and registered a design bureau named “Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung, Konstruktion und Beratung für Motoren- und Fahrzeugbau” in Stuttgart. Read more
